Report: Moldova can spend 800 mln euros on fuel without Russia deal
MOSCOW, Oct 29 (PRIME) -- Moldova will spend 800 million euros on fuel imports without an agreement with Russian gas giant Gazprom, Prime Minister Natalya Gavrilita told the Financial Times in an interview on Friday.
“The E.U. should make it support of Moldova clear in these four to five months,” she said. “Moldova needs very small volumes … We hope that we can count on continuous support.”
Gavrilita said that the 60 million euros disbursed by the Union to help the country in the crisis will help Chisinau hold the negotiations without the fear that time is lost.
The prime minister said that the next few weeks will be crucial, and asked the E.U. to declare support. She also said concerning an E.U. decision to provide 60 million euro support that the money would help the country to continue the negotiations without hurry.
Gazprom earlier said that it was ready to continue deliveries to Moldova only if the country redeems a U.S. $700 million debt, or the supplies will be suspended from December 1.
